>> Programs & Ministries, Children's Ministries, 5th & 6th grade program

Our program for 5th and 6th graders is led by , and is geared towards our pre-teens and their age-specific needs. We have created a combination of weekend classes and mid-week fellowship to help these children connect with each other and grow in their faith.

Weekend Classes

Our weekend classes provide preteens with the chance to learn more about their faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Meet at Studio 56 on Sunday at 9:30 AM, Saturday night at 6:00 or Sunday night at 5:00. Students are split between boys and girls to encourage a safe peer environment in which to discuss faith and life issues. We also have 5.6 at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays.

Route 56

Route 56 is our mid-week program designed to provide an opportunity for fellowship and connection with peers and mentors. Every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. we provide a safe place for 5th and 6th graders to interact with Christian friends in a fun and exciting environment.  Along with fellowship, we will share a short devotion and prayer time each week. We have a great team of youth and adults who mentor and work with these students each week of the school year.
Route 56 starts back September 12th.

Route 56 Summer Blast, August 12-15, 2013

The Summer Journey is four days in August that consists of fun activites that include wild and crazy games, Bible study, mission projects, and lots of food and fun. This is a great way to finish the summer and get ready for the fall. The kids will meet new friends and develop relationships with their peers and mentors, while strengthening their relationship to Jesus. If you are a rising 5th or 6th grader, join us for fun, games, and snacks and learn more about Route 56! Sign up online. If you would like to know more, please e-mail , our 5th & 6th grade coordinator.

    Confirmation

Registration for the next Confirmation class will begin in December 2012. Confirmation is an opportunity to provide a time of spiritual growth and transition from being a child in the church to being a confirmed member at First Mansfield and an active part of our wonderful Student Ministry. During the confirmation time, our students will learn what it means to be a Christian and to be a member of the United Methodist Church. They will have opportunity to ask questions, observe mentors and learn from pastors. We hope they will become connected to God and the church in a new way.

Confirmation classes are for all 6th graders, or older students who have not been through confirmation, and is a 10-week program with large group and small group time as well as a retreat. We end with a commitment service where students will accept their confirmation and membership into our church. We encourage all 6th grade students to participate.
