Linda Canedy | Director |
Linda has a degree in Business from TCU and has worked in the community for 24 years. Six years ago she and her husband, Randall, were members of the founding board of AIM First. Since then, she has taught art at AIM First for the past five years and this year will teach the new afternoon pre-K, Kindergarten art class. Linda became the Director in February of 2008. She and her husband have been married for 20 years. They have a son Hunter who is 16 and a daughter Devon, 8, and have been members of our church for over 15 years.
Doris Boerkei | AIM First Coordinator |
Doris is the glue that holds the AIM office together. She and her family moved to the U.S from Germany 12 years ago, and to Mansfield in 2007. She holds a degree in Business/Marketing from Germany. Doris and her husband have been married for 15 exciting years and have two children. Her daughter Katharina, 13, plays piano and her son, Christopher, 10, nows plays the guitar. She loves to travel, play with her dogs, and work out at the gym and the park.
Linda McCall | Art
Linda teaches level I and level II art classes. Linda has a degree in Communications with a minor in fine arts. Her emphasis in art is ceramics, collage, and painting. She has taught art classes and craft classes since college and has continued working with children at her children’s schools and as co-leader of a Brownie troop. Linda is also the Administrative Assistant at First Faith Preschool and Kindergarten. She is married to Tate and has two wonderful girls. She loves working with the kids and is truly blessed and inspired by their creativity and technique.
Heather Michael | Art
Heather has been teaching art for six years. She went to college to study her love and appreciation of art at The University of Texas at Arlington. With a double major in Pottery and Photography, combined with a minor in Metalsmithing, she graduated Magna Cum Lade. After college, Heather began teaching High School Art at Cedar Hill High School. For the last two years Heather has been teaching art in Mansfield ISD at Roberta Tipps Elementary School. Heather loves art and feels it is wonderful to watch children grow in their artistic abilities, enthusiasms, and appreciations for art.
Jason Nix| Guitar & Cooking
Jason has culinary training from San Jacinto College in Houston. He was a Soux Chef at The Veranda, a four star restaurant in Houston, and was the head chef and kitchen manger at Windows for two years in Huntsville, Texas. Jason has taught guitar at AIM First for several years and has been in music ministry for six years. He is the Saturday Night Worship Band Director and Co-leader at First Methodist. Jason has been the Contemporary Worship Leader at Brock United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings since August 2007. Jason also writes for the Saturday night worship team.
Beth LaMee | Piano Instructor
Beth has been teaching group piano here since September 2007. In addition to her piano classes Beth is the Assistant Director of Music at First Methodist, where she directs four hand bell choirs and the Youth Choir. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Averett University and her Masters of Church Music in Music Ministry in May 2007 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Beth enjoys spending time at home with her husband, Bobby.
Sondra Robertson | Piano Instructor
"Sonny" has served as Traditional Worship Arts Music Assistant and staff organist since 2007 for First Methodist. She earned a bachelors' degree in organ from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and a Masters' degree in Organ from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Sondra has taught piano and organ for over 30 years, both in the private studio and the college classroom. She and husband Steve live outside of Waxahachie, where Sondra keeps her two dressage show horses.
Dawn Brown | Fitness Instructor
Dawn received a B.A. in Marketing from Texas Tech in 1992 and has been an AFFA certified personal trainer since 2000. She holds a primary certification in general aerobics and certifications in water aerobics, silver sneakers, step aerobics, advanced weight training, nutrition, senior yoga, and just about every fitness workshop you can imagine! Dawn and her family have been members of First Methodist since 1999.
Martha Fredrick| Drama Director
Martha Fredrick is the director of theatre arts. Holding a BA, she taught in public schools for fourteen years and has 34 years experience directing youth and adults at the amateur and professional levels. As founder of GCT Theatre, she directed all productions for a ten yeas when they performed in the historic Orpheum Theatre on the old Chicago circuit. Marty also serves as the drama director for First Methodist Mansfield and another local church. Recognizing the need for a theatrical arts program for the area, she started Performing Arts Studio eight years ago and has been with AIM First from the beginning.
Heather Rountree| Drama Coordinator
Heather serves as the coordinator for the Drama Classes and teaches and directs, as well. She graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a BSE in Social Sciences and has performance and technical theatre experience. Heather has been working in a theater setting since the 4th grade. She has worked under the direction of Marty Fredrick for 8 years. Heather teaches 6th grade at Bedford Heights Elementary. Theatre has always been her passion and made her college experiences some of the best times of her life.
Krystal Vaughn| Drama & Voice
Krystal holds a BA in Vocal Performance and English and a MA in Vocal Performance. Credits include leases in Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, It’s a Wonderful Life, the opera ”Susannah” as well as many supporting roles. She also served as choreographer for many shows. Her focus at AIM First is teaching voice as well as drama classes. She is also very active in church music and drama.
Scott Ferrell | Voice & Violin
Scott began studying the violin in fourth grade and double majored in violin and voice while enrolled in Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he received his BM in Vocal Performance. As a vocalist, he has received numerous awards including the Marguarite McCamon Award for Vocal Excellence and was a Semi-Finalist for MET Auditions. Scott Ferrell received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2000 and has taught voice to students of all ages and abilities, including positions at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. As the Founding Director of AIM First in 2003, he is proud of the artistic impact it has had in Mansfield and the surrounding communities over the last several years.
