Mission C.A.R.E. Center

Hours of operation:  Mon.-Wed. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Thurs. 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Individuals and families come to our Mission C.A.R.E. (Counseling, Assistance, Resources, Empathy) Center in crisis.  All appointments are pre-scheduled.  For assistance call, (817)473-6650. A Client Care Staff member sits down with each individual/family to assess their needs, and partners with them to come up with solution-focused goals to help them get back to a path of self-sufficiency. As determined by this assessment, the following assistance may be made available for them:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Utility assistance (gas, electric and water)
  • Mortgage/rent assistance
  • Counseling
  • Medical assistance
  • Job assistance and referral program
  • FUMC and its support groups
  • Referrals to other organizations

Our service area for financial assistance is limited to the Mansfield Independent School District.  However, our non-financial services are available to all who enter our doors.  The Mission C.A.R.E. Center has become a hotline for the community. Individuals and other organizations such as schools, churches, government agencies, frequently call requesting information on the availability of assistance. Mission C.A.R.E. staff spends time with the callers attempting to match them up with the community resources that will best meet their needs.

In 2008, the Mission C.A.R.E. Center financial assistance program provided over $182,510 in assistance to families in need.  We could not do this without the help of the many wonderful people who donate funds and volunteer time.  View the 2008 Annual Reportw.

The WMC Food Pantry is a vital part of the financial assistance program at the Mission C.A.R.E. Center. Families who come into our Mission C.A.R.E. Center meet with our C.A.R.E. staff, and a needs assessment is made.  Food needs are usually a part of that assessment, and the food pantry provides non-perishable bags to these clients. Volunteers prepare these food bags daily, in order for the staff to distribute to clients in need.  In 2008, the Food Pantry gave out over 1,374 bags of groceries to hungry individuals and families.

First United Methodist Church supports the food pantry through Sunday school food drives, the First Faith Preschool food drive, and church member donations.  The community provides for the pantry as well via MISD school food drives, the US Postal Service annual food drive, and donations from Fort Worth companies.  The food pantry also receives many monetary donations from local Mansfield organizations.
