The mission of First Methodist Mansfield's Special Needs Ministry is to encourage individuals and their families to know the love of Christ. First Methodist Mansfield is a place where individuals can engage in the worship experience with the necessary support and resources provided. To understand the 'Why' in our ministry, please read this inspiring article from Cheryl Handiver.
Often we get so caught up in describing the ‘syndrome’ that we ignore the real hopes and dreams children and adults with special needs have. The level of care required for someone with special needs can cause us to overlook the fact that those with special needs just want to feel normal.
Our Special Needs Ministry provides individuals with physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities the opportunity for spiritual growth and fellowship in a safe environment. We can also provide resources to assist families with appropriate programs, and help identify those who may need extra care.
How Special Needs Serves our Community:
- Special Needs Weekend
- Cookies for the Troops
- Central Texas Conference Serve Day
- Feed the Kids
- Adopt-A-Street Program
