Mother's Day
>> May 08, 2009 By: Tina SchrammeThis weekend is Mother's Day. And though it is a national holiday, we don't celebrate Mother's Day at our church simply because the rest of the country is doing it. We celebrate because we are grateful for our mothers and the things they do for us. We celebrate because we are grateful to God for giving us mothers and other women in our lives who raise us and show us God's love. And, we celebrate because God gave us life through our mothers just as he gives us a new life through Jesus. This Mother's Day, take time to honor not only your mother, but also the other mothers in our lives. My own mother is passed, but I am grateful for all the women who continue to nurture me and share their wisdom. I am grateful for the women who take time to love on my children and make them feel special. I am grateful for the aunts and grandmas and adoptive and foster moms in our congregation. To all of you who share your God-given warmth and love with the precious children of our church and community, Happy Mother's Day.
