First Methodist's Weekly Newsletterby Pastor Shea Reyenga
Dear First Family,
Happy Friday! We are continuing our Be Brave sermon series this weekend. Just in case you were wondering, holding out and waiting until you get exactly what you want is not bravery. It may work for professional athletes but it isn’t an effective strategy for us as we pursue growing closer to God. I do hope you’ve been challenged to take brave steps of faith through this series so far. This week we’ll be exploring Peter and John and their bravery before the Sanhedrin as they are arrested for teaching and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
Make plans to join us in worship this weekend as we learn how to share with others what God has done in our lives.
We are excited about the BIG WEEKEND coming up! Please invite neighbors, family, and friends to join you in worship next weekend. And please read through these opportunities to be brave and stay open to the leading of the Holy Spirit:
This weekend, Door Hangers will be available hanging on every door on our campus. We want to invite everybody to pick up a door hanger or two or three and write a personal note and invite those living around you to worship next weekend for our BIG WEEKEND.
Are you being called to take the next step and serve within the church? If so, please join us for one of the next sessions of Serving @ First on September 8 at 5:00 pm or September 10 at 10:00 am. This one-hour class prepares you to serve, teaches the basics of our church's mission, offers guidance for spiritual leadership, and provides Safe Sanctuary training. Following the class, those seeking a place to serve will receive instruction for next steps. You may register for the class on our website.
Looking to officially join First Methodist? Come to Starting Point this Sunday, September 8, at 5:00 pm. Starting Point is a casual and relaxed gathering led by our Senior Pastor, David Alexander. All guests interested in joining the church are invited to learn more about the church, our mission, and what we believe. This is an opportunity to ask questions and meet our pastors and members of our staff. Childcare is available. Visit our website to register.
We believe shared lives lead to changed lives. Group Link is a gathering that will help you find or form a group. Enjoy refreshments and relaxing conversation with new friends as we learn how experiencing community in Group Life creates the foundation for our spiritual growth here at First Methodist Mansfield. Group Link is offered at three different hours this Sunday, September 8. Join us at 9:30 am or 11:00 am in Building C, Room 5 or at 6:00 pm in the Atrium (following Starting Point). Registration is required and childcare is available with registration.
I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus this weekend.
Grace and Peace in Christ,
