A Note From Pastor Jim

A Note From Pastor Jim

Dear First Family,

I know that you have been enjoying the cooler weather that we have had these past few days (cooler, not cool weather).  There is no doubt that summer is still with us and will be for a while to come.

Summer of Joy was a great choice for our theme this year. I hope in the midst of all that you have experienced these first two months of summer that there has been plenty of joy for you and yours.   One of those joy-filled moments for me was a visit from my older brothers at the end of June. You can see us in the picture enjoying a piece of Carmin’s incredible lemon meringue pie.

Our church has hosted a bevy of big events (VBC and United Mission Week) and for many, these experiences were truly life-changing.  But those life-changing moments have not been limited to the big events.  Each and every day, each and every week we celebrate the opportunities we have to grow as disciples and to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others, and serve the world.
Let me highlight two additional things for you today.

First, the Boomers and Beyond trip to the Dallas Aquarium.
On Monday, July 30th the Boomers and Beyond group are taking a trip to the world-renowned Dallas World Aquarium. Register today on our website.

Finally, I want to lift up the Journey through Grief six-week classes. There will be a daytime class weekly on Tuesdays, starting on September 11. There will be an evening class weekly on Mondays, starting on October 8.

As we enter this last weekend in July, I hope you will join me as we gather for worship, study, fellowship and to repeat the sounding joy.

Grace & Peace,
Jim
