A Note From Pastor David

A Note From Pastor David

Dear First Family,

Today we continue to pray for the rain to stop, for the waters to recede and the long recovery for so many in southeast Texas to begin. As I shared with you in my note on Wednesday, Stephanie and I are anxiously awaiting news on her parent’s home. I am well aware that so many of you are sharing that same experience as you pray for family and friends affected by the flooding.

As our prayers continue, know that I have also been praying for so many of you who are ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work for family and friends who suddenly find themselves in need.

If you want to know how you can help, click here to see the list of ways you can participate in the help we are already providing. As we continue to pray, please also remember our church’s Early Response Team that left for the Rockport area yesterday.

I will share more with you this weekend as we look at our final core value in our This is Usmessage series.

There are two other opportunities coming up that I want to highlight today.

First, I will be teaching our Pastor’s Bible Study again this fall beginning this coming Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am in our Chapel. Additionally, we will now also be broadcasting this study in its entirety via Facebook Live beginning at 9:30 am.

You don’t need a degree in the Bible to attend. There is no homework or readings you need to do in advance. All you need is your Bible, perhaps a journal to take some notes and a desire to learn more.

I hope you will consider joining in person or online.

Secondly, I want to remind you that our fall super series, Talking with God, will begin the following weekend, September 9th & 10th. This six-week sermon series and study will focus on the mystery and some of our shared misunderstandings about the practice of prayer. My prayer is that at the end of these six weeks every person in our church is going to feel more confident and capable in this important faith practice.

Additionally, if you are not yet connected to a class or small group who will be working through the video curriculum that is a supplement to this message series, we would love to get you connected to an existing group or help you start a group of your own! It really is as simple as gathering with your friends and growing in your faith.

You can hear more about our ambition for this series, the importance of sharing this study with others, and our hope for this church-wide focus in my September monthly video message which you can watch by clicking here.

I hope to see you in worship this weekend. God does amazing things when God’s people gather to worship and experience God. It’s true with each opportunity, but this weekend especially is one where we need to gather together.

Grace & Peace,

Pastor David
