A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
This weekend we begin one of the most significant weeks for Christians around the world. The next stop we will visit this weekend on our Trip of a Lifetime will be the Mount of Olives overlooking the grand Temple Mount in Jerusalem as we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into the Holy City on Palm Sunday.
As always, I want to encourage you to be in worship this weekend for this important stop on our trip, but I also want to encourage you to slow down in the days ahead in order to walk intentionally through the final week of the life of Jesus and the journey we have shared these many weeks.
If you would like to volunteer to welcome guests to any of our Holy Week and Easter weekend worship opportunities, please visit this link to get signed up today!
From our stop this weekend we will move to the Upper Room for our Holy Thursday service beginning at 7:00pm in our main Sanctuary. You may also receive communion from6:00-8:00am or 11:00am-1:00pm during the day on Thursday in the Chapel.
On Friday we come to the cross with our Good Friday service which will also take place at 7:00pm in our main Sanctuary. I have always felt that participating in our shared remembrance of Friday’s sorrow is what enables us to grasp fully the reality of Easter’s joy.
I hope you will be present at both of our Holy Week services on Thursday and Friday.
On Good Friday, from 8:30-11:30am, we will also be having a day of service here on our campus as we clean up the brush and broken limbs along the edge of our property which borders Walnut Creek. All ages are welcome as we not only seek to beautify our campus but also increase the visibility of our campus to those traveling west on Walnut Creek Drive.
Suggested clothing is long pants, long shirts, close-toed shoes, and work gloves. Contact Vicky Hale with questions and to sign up!
On Saturday from 9:00-11:00am, the whole family is welcome to participate in our Rise & Shine Fun Run followed by bounce houses and donuts here on campus. Special guests will be passing out eggs for our kids during the run.
And finally, we will then come to our Easter weekend services which are listed below.
Please note that following our sunrise service, the remaining Sunday morning opportunities will happen at our regular worship times, 8:15am in our Sanctuary; 9:30 and 11:00am at the Center for the Performing Arts!
I look forward to seeing you at the Mount of Olives this weekend!
