A Note From Pastor David

by Pastor David Alexander
A Note From Pastor David

Dear First Family,

For anyone who is brand new to First Methodist Mansfield, it quickly becomes apparent that you cannot keep up with everything happening in the life of our faith family. I celebrate that I have the honor of serving as Senior Pastor at a church where I do not know half of the wonderful things happening day in and day out!

And so each week I try to lift up a few things happening in the coming days. You will see some of those listed below.

But I do want to highlight a truly significant celebration that took place this week.

On Tuesday, the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry voted to approve Pastor Tina for ordination as a Full Elder in the United Methodist Church. The service when that will take place will happen on Tuesday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. This is the culmination of many years of work and a significant milestone for Pastor Tina that I want to invite you to celebrate with me. Be sure and congratulate her and put June 11th on your calendar if you would like to attend that special service.

Here are four additional things I want to highlight today.

  • Registration for Vacation Bible Camp opened up this week. VBC will take place on June 17th-20th and there are 2 sessions to choose from: Morning 9:00-12:00 and Evening 6:00-8:00. For more information and to register, please go to fmcm.org/vbc.
  • In all services this weekend we will be distributing bags for you to participate in providing homemade cookies for an upcoming Kairos Prison Ministry event. You will need to return those next weekend, April 13th-14th.
  • This Sunday evening at 5:00 pm in our main Sanctuary, our Chancel Bells, Joyful Ringers, Handbell Quartet as well as the Jubilate children’s choir will be offering a free concert.
  • On Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 pm in the Loft, our Refresh Women’s ministry will be hosting a Seder Passover meal. Childcare is available with registration. Register for this event by going to fmcm.org/refresh.

Finally, and this is super important…

If you would like to volunteer to serve and welcome at any of our Holy Week and Easter services, please visit our website to sign up!

Services include Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunrise, and three Easter Sunday services and are listed below. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt to wear while serving!

There is much more happening.

It is too much for any one of us to keep up with but all is focused towards our singular goal of Making Disciples of Jesus Christ who Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Grace & Peace,
Pastor David
