Dear First Family,
This weekend we bring a brand new series entitled, Rooted. Over the course of the next five weeks, we will be looking back at the work done in the 18th century by two brothers, John and Charles Wesley, who awakened a movement that eventually gave birth to Methodism.
This is an important series that I do not want you to miss. While the focus of our series will be on a better understanding of the roots of Methodism, we are intentionally doing this at an important moment within the United Methodist denomination.
February 23-26, delegates from United Methodist churches from all around the world will be gathering in St. Louis, Missouri for a called session of what we call our General Conference. The gathering of this main legislative body of the United Methodist Church is specifically focused on addressing the impasse within our denomination around issues of human sexuality.
And I understand that may raise some questions for you…
With that in mind, I will be hosting four Town Hall gatherings for the sake of ensuring you feel well informed about the work of General Conference and responding to any questions that you might have. All these gatherings will take place in our Chapel and those dates and times are:
- February 10th at 3:00 pm
- February 13th at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm
- February 17th at 3:00 pm
This weekend we will also be highlighting our ministry of support and care for those affected by cancer. Resources and information will be available in the atrium as well as God isBig Enough bracelets in a various assortment of colors relating to cancer. For more information, visit our website.
Finally, this Sunday at noon, our 2019 Confirmation class will begin. This
ten-week class, beginning this Sunday is focused on walking students through the basics of the Christian faith, equipping them to take ownership of their faith journey, giving them a chance to profess their faith and become full members of our church.
If you have a 6th grader don't allow them to miss this opportunity! There is still time to register your child here!

Today, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen _________ with power through his Spirit in ___________ inner being, so that Christ may dwell in _______________ through faith.
And I pray that ___________, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that __________ may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
