A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
Happy New Year!
I hope your Holiday season was filled with rich blessings and I am thankful to be back with you this weekend as we begin our first message series of the year. Before I tell you more about that, let me share a special celebration with you.
It is a tremendous joy to let you know that through our Christmas Eve offerings and in gifts shared throughout the month of December, you gave $105,000 to bless and support ZOE Ministry!
That is almost double our total from 2017. That says so much about your faith and your church that in a season where we have intentionally focused on investing in the enhancement and expansion of our ministry campus, you set a new record for blessing this incredible ministry.
I have seen first hand the impact ZOE is making around the world. I am so grateful for your continued investment in seeing ZOE’s vision realized of empowering orphaned and vulnerable children to never need charity again.
This weekend we begin a new message series entitled, What the Bible DOESN’T Say. Over these next few weeks, we are going to unpack some of the more common “half-truths” often found in phrases and sayings we have heard and shared that can actually end up misguiding us in the life of faith. More importantly, for some, they may have caused you great confusion or unintentionally deepened a wound you may have experienced in the past.
In looking at the things we say that the Bible doesn’t actually say, my prayer is that this series will bless you but also equip you to respond to some of life’s biggest questions we ask and others may one day ask of you.
Two additional notes I want to lift up today.
First, if you are looking to start this new year by making a membership commitment to our church family, Starting Point will be next Sunday, January 13th at 12:30 pm. Starting Point is a relaxed gathering where I share our mission, vision and values so that you can know what you are committing to as a member of First Methodist Mansfield. Our lives are defined by the commitments we make. We would love to welcome you as a new member of our First Methodist Family! To register, simply click here.
Finally, I want to encourage you to pray for Pastor Tina and the college students that she is leading on a mission trip this week to Costa Rica. They left today and will be there throughout this next week. I appreciate you praying for their safe travel and for the work they will be doing to bless and support our brothers and sisters.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Grace & Peace,
