A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
As I write this, we have just finished up our Thanksgiving meal at my Mom and Dad’s house. The volume level when my family gets together is usually fairly high but it’s quiet as a mouse right now as most enjoy a Thanksgiving nap!
This weekend we continue our focus on this special holiday’s theme. As you prepare to be a part of one of our six weekend services, I hope you will intentionally prepare by naming one thing for which you want to give God thanks in worship this weekend.
There are a whole host of additional opportunities as our journey through this treasured holiday season is just beginning.
First, this is the last weekend to pick up an Angel from our Angel Tree. You can do that in the atrium. You can choose to adopt Community Angels, children from Waco Children's Home, Homeless Angels, Nursing Home Angels, and Silver Angels. In addition to adopting an angel, there are several ways to help out with our Angel Trees. Visit our website for all of the information and service opportunities.
On Saturday, December 1st, Grammy-nominated Contemporary Christian artist David Crowder will perform at MISD’s Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is part of his national American Prodigal tour, and it will raise funds for MISD’s Arts Program and feature special performances by Mansfield ISD Choir students. For tickets and information visit the website!
Finally, over the next two weekends, our United Methodist Women will be taking orders for Poinsettias that you may purchase in memory or honor of a loved one. Flowers are $15 and proceeds benefit the Methodist Children’s Home and United Community Centers. You may also reserve your Poinsettia online right now.
These flowers will decorate our Sanctuary throughout the Advent Season and may be taken home after the Candlelight Service, Dec 24th.
As people often remark to me, this must be a really busy season for the church. It is, but it is also one we look forward to celebrating with our church family each year. I give thanks for you and pray that God will bless you as you continue to be a blessing to others.
Grace & Peace,
