A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
Tomorrow morning in our Sanctuary at 11:00 am, we will be gathering to celebrate the life of Amanda Ferguson. Our church was richly blessed to have Amanda as a member of our ministry staff. Amanda served as the Director of our Special Needs Ministry. She was the heart and soul of this ministry that grew exponentially under her leadership.
First Methodist Mansfield is a different church today because of Amanda. My life has been changed because of her and I know many of you would say the same. In all services this weekend, I will share more with you about the impact of Amanda’s life.
Please know how much I appreciate your prayers for her family.
In lieu of flowers or meals, if you would like to honor Amanda’s memory with a gift, I would recommend these three options.
Amanda Ferguson Memorial Fund - This fund has been set up through Frost Bank to support Brody and Brandon's future and to help with college expenses. Please make checks payable to “Amanda Ferguson Memorial Fund”. You can take those directly to Frost Bank or drop those by the church office and we will deliver on your behalf.
Our Special Needs Ministry - Please make checks payable to FMCM with Special Needs in the memo.
MDAnderson Research at gifts.mdanderson.org in memory of Amanda Ferguson.
This weekend I am also looking forward to introducing you to Shea Reyenga who will be joining our ministry staff as Minister of Evangelism & Teaching. Shea received his Masters of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU and did his undergraduate work at Baylor where he met his wife Lindsey. He previously served as an Associate Pastor at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake and prior to that he was the Campus Minister at Tarleton Wesley Foundation in Stephenville.
You can read more about Shea by visiting this link. I hope you will stop by and welcome Shea, his wife Lindsey and their 8-month-old son Max.
A few final notes for you today.
July 1st is the deadline to sign up to be a part of the mission team that will travel to Sager Brown, September 9th - 14th. If you are interested in that opportunity to prepare relief kits to help with disaster relief around the world, please contact Barbara Kesner.
We are still looking for 3 more adults to work alongside our Junior High and High School Students during United Mission Week, July 15 - 19. If you are interested, please contact Amanda Hardeman.
At Starting Point this last Sunday, we welcomed several new members whose names you see listed below. Please join me in welcoming them to the First Methodist Mansfield Family!
I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Grace & Peace,
