A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
Welcome to a brand new year. I hope you each had a wonderful Christmas with friends and family. This weekend I am anticipating sharing with you about our Christmas Eve offering for ZOE Ministry during our Christmas Eve services as well as how many we were blessed to welcome during our Christmas Eve services.
I want to especially encourage you to be in worship this weekend as we gather for the first time in 2018. As we look at making a fresh start, I want to share from my own experience and my perspective as a pastor the biggest mistake we tend to make in defining the goals we want to pursue in a new year. It is a mistake I have made many times before and would certainly be repeating without great mentors who have helped me learn what I want to share with you.
Today I also want to lift several important opportunities to your attention.
Parents, if you have a 6th grader and have not yet signed them up for Confirmation, I hope you will do that today! Our 10 week class for these students which focuses on the basics of the Christian faith and invites them into full membership in the church begins next Sunday afternoon, January 14th at 12:30 pm. To register, visit www.firstmethodistmansfield.org/confirmation. If you have any questions, email Pastor Lauren.
All parents of students grades 6-12 are invited this Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm for a kickoff dinner in the Loft with our Student Ministry staff. Along with a great meal, you will hear about what our students will be doing this spring. For questions or to RSVP to this event, email Amanda Hardeman.
Finally, if you have been thinking about making a membership commitment to our church family, I hope you will be a part of Starting Point this Wednesday night at 6:30 pm in our Chapel. At Starting Point we share the mission, vision, and values of our church, what it means to commit to membership and offer each participant a chance to make that commitment as well. I would love to welcome you officially to our faith family.
A new year begins. It’s time for a fresh start. I look forward to seeing you this weekend as we take our first step together in 2018.
Grace and Peace,
