A Note From Pastor Davidby Pastor David Alexander
Dear First Family,
As we enter the final two months of 2017, I want you to know how grateful I am for you and for the commitment we share to make disciples of Jesus Christ who will love God, love others, and serve the world. Your heart is amazing and it’s an honor to serve as one of your pastors.
For several months I have been looking forward to our Guys Night Out event which will take place this evening at 6:30 p.m. Men, if you do not have your ticket yet, there is still time. You can do that by visiting www.firstmethodistmansfield.org/men. You may also do so at the door. We will have a great BBQ dinner before hearing from our special guest, Dave Munson, from Saddleback Leather.
This weekend we will be sharing the third week in our First Things First messages series. Additionally, in all of our weekend services, I want you to know that we will be marking All Saints Day with a special moment of remembrance and celebration for the Saints who have joined the church triumphant in this past year.
Next weekend we will also have several opportunities as a church family and a local community to mark Veteran’s Day. For the very first in our city’s history, there will be a Veteran’s Day parade on Saturday morning, November 11th, which will culminate with a Salute to Veterans at RL Anderson Stadium.
On Sunday evening, November 12th, our music teams will also be sharing a special Veteran’s Day Service in our main Sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. Our teams are still looking for a few good men to wear the uniforms of our Armed services throughout our nation’s history. If you are interested in helping in this way, they will be doing fittings for those uniforms this Saturday, November 4th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and will have a dress rehearsal next Wednesday night. If you have any additional questions, please contact Dr. Scott Ferrell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally today, I want to thank you for your support of our annual Pumpkin Patch! Once again we had record sales enabling us to raise funds to support the service projects our students will be doing in our community during United Mission Week in 2018.
I look forward to seeing you in worship this weekend as we honor our saints and continue focusing on the principle that, faithfulness in the first things has the power to change everything!
Grace & Peace,
